Trina Solar, already a leader in the photovoltaic industry, has held its place at the top of the bankability list now for four consecutive years.
How these conclusions were reached was that the BNEF held a survey (which lasted 18 months) and reached out to banks, funds, EPC’s, independent power providers (IPPs) and technical advisors worldwide. The organisation can also rely on input from quality inspectors and technology experts. Combined, the field of experts involved have hundreds of years of experience and represent installed PV with a capacity of 25GW globally.
What this means for the industry and consumers alike is that the BNEF has assured the market that Trina Solar is top for product quality, performance, reliability, innovation and sound financial management.
BNEF’s definition of “bankable” is as follows; “the willingness of a bank to provide a non-recourse loan for a project that uses a specific PV module brand. Banks typically decide whether to make a loan to a PV project if they feel comfortable with the product quality of modules and if the manufacturer is financially healthy so that it can honour the product warranty.” This opens doors for large volume, financed projects, with the bank's confidence in the brand.
This latest BNEF report also includes data from PV Evolution Labs (PVEL). PVEL is the leading independent lab for the global downstream PV industry. With their extensive testing protocols, they turn assumptions about solar PV equipment and system performance into quantifiable metrics. The PVEL 2019 PV Module Reliability Scorecard is produced in conjunction with DNV GL (risk management and quality assurance service with the world's largest resource of independent experts and certification body). The Scorecard can be safely claimed as the most comprehensive publicly available comparison of PV module reliability test results. Trina Solar earned the accolade of “Top Performer” due to its outstanding module reliability and power generation performance. This is the fifth time in a row they have received this accolade.
Trina Solar executive vice president Yin Rongfang said, “We are very proud of the great result Trina Solar has achieved once again in this renowned industry report. The report confirms our solid financial condition, proven product quality and good corporate reputation, as well as recognizes our ongoing commitment to long-term sustainability. Trina Solar is committed to creating a long-term and robust return on investment for our global customers with higher-value PV modules and integrated solutions.”
